It’s definitely feeling a lot more like spring here in the Pembrokeshire hills. The days are getting longer and we’re looking forward to lighter nights and even, dare we hope, the first barbeque of the year.
But there’s still a chill in the air and it’s that time of year where you might be out cooking over charcoal one night, but back indoors for a hearty stew the next!
At this time of year, we see lots of people ordering our multi-meal box. It’s our most flexible option and also the best way to try a range of our lamb, hogget and mutton.
We created the box with the family cook in mind and it contains the foundations for lots of different family meals – from slow braises to quick midweek grills. And because it’s designed to fit around busy family life, we also include two sauces from our award-winning Welsh Saucery range – made here on the farm from all natural ingredients – to make mealtimes even easier.
There’s plenty of choice from our minced and diced packs – giving you the option to go for the more familiar lamb or branch out and try our hogget or mutton. You can pick from three different flavours of our burgers which are made to our own family recipes and the box also has chops which show off the very best of our Pembrokeshire lamb.
It’s a great way to cover all the bases whatever the weather throws at us!
And if you’re looking for some midweek meal-time inspiration, which not try Kara’s Shepherds Pie recipe.
Planting a tree for every child in Pembrokeshire
We’ve been busy again with the tree planting on the farm. As part of a ten year plan to plant a native, deciduous tree for every child in the county, Pembrokeshire Council has already planted several thousand trees here on the farm, with another round of planting just completed.
To help out, we planted more than 300 more ourselves and Kara’s out every evening checking on the young saplings and making sure they’re all in good health.
Other partners on the planting project are Tir Coed, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Hywel Dda NHS Health Board.
We’re up for another award!
We’re celebrating being shortlisted in the Wales Food and Drink Awards – and very happy that it’s in the Sustainable Values category as we work so hard on farming and producing products in harmony with the environment around us.
The Wales Food and Drink Awards are new for 2022 and celebrate innovation, business success and celebration. Fingers crossed for the awards announcement on 13 May 🤞
